Incogni is a competent service and a lot of people are happy with it. This page is not an attempt to talk you out of it. It exists because two differences matter to some people and almost never get mentioned: who you are actually signing a contract with, and whether you keep paying every year.

The question most comparisons skip

When you buy a data-removal service, you hand over your full name, your home address, your phone numbers and every email address you use. That is a remarkably complete profile — the exact profile you are paying to have deleted. So it is worth knowing which company holds it, and whose courts decide things if something goes wrong.

Incogni's own Terms of Service answer this plainly. Since 1 October 2023 the contracting party is Incogni Inc., 25910 Acero, Suite 240, Mission Viejo, California. For contracts concluded on or after 7 October 2024, those Terms state the agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California, with exclusive jurisdiction in California state courts. Surfshark B.V. in Amsterdam still appears in their Privacy Policy, but as their Article 27 GDPR representative — the EU point of contact a non-EU company is required to appoint — rather than as the company you contract with.

None of that is hidden and none of it is wrongdoing. Plenty of excellent services are American. But if you are in the EU and your reason for buying is that you want control over where your personal data sits, it is a fact worth having before you decide.

Privora is established in the EU, contracts under EU law, and is subject to GDPR directly rather than through a representative. If that distinction is irrelevant to you, it is genuinely irrelevant — and the rest of this page will help you less than our transparency page will.

Paying once versus paying every year

Incogni is a subscription: it renews until you cancel. Privora's Essential cleanup is €49 once. Nothing renews, and there is nothing to remember to cancel.

We are deliberately not printing Incogni's price here. Their headline figure is a discounted annual rate that changes with promotions, and their displayed prices are quoted before VAT while ours is the total you pay — so any number we printed today would be misleading by next month. Look at their current price, add your local VAT, and multiply by the number of years you expect to care about this. Then compare it with €49.

The honest caveat: a subscription is not automatically worse. It buys continuous monitoring, and brokers do re-list people over time. That is a real benefit and we will not pretend otherwise — which is why we sell Stay Clean as an optional yearly add-on rather than bundling it into the base price and calling ourselves cheaper.

When Incogni is the better choice

A comparison that claims to win on every line is marketing, not information. Here is where we would point you at them instead.

• You want continuous, hands-off monitoring for years. That is what a subscription is built for. Our base product is a one-time sweep; ongoing cover is an add-on you have to choose.
• You want the broadest possible broker coverage. Incogni covers more brokers than we do. We cover 180+ and publish the list; they cover more.
• You are in the United States. Most people-search sites are American, US law gives you different levers than GDPR, and a US-based provider operating in its home market is a reasonable thing to want.
• You want a large company behind it. They are part of a group with hundreds of staff. Privora is small. If that matters to you, it should count.

What we cannot do

Some sites refuse. Some re-list data later from other sources. Nobody can guarantee 100% removal, and we do not claim to — we publish exactly what we can and cannot remove, including the cases where removal is not possible at all. If a provider will not tell you where their service stops, that is worth noticing whoever you buy from.

Common questions

Is Privora just a cheaper Incogni?

No — it is a different shape. One-time instead of recurring, EU-contracted instead of US, narrower broker coverage, and an add-on for ongoing monitoring rather than it being the default. Cheaper over three years, yes, but that is a consequence rather than the point.

Can I switch from Incogni?

Yes, and you do not need to cancel first. Removals already filed on your behalf stay done — an erasure request is not undone by changing provider. Cancel whenever your billing period suits you.

Do you do the removals automatically or manually?

Both. Requests to brokers with a working process go out automatically; the ones that refuse, ignore or demand extra proof are chased by a person. The awkward ones are where a service earns its money.

Is my data safe with you?

We never sell or share it — removing it is the entire service. We process only what is needed to file requests on your behalf, and you can ask us to delete everything we hold at any time.
